Curriculum

In 2003 I graduated from the University of Bari (Italy) in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology. This included an 18-month research project in synthetic methodologies working on the synthesis and the reactivity of oxazolinylaziridines. In 2007 I completed my Ph.D. program (Doctoral School of Applied Chemical and Enzymatic Synthesis) at the University of Bari working on the development of new stereoselective synthetic methodologies of small molecules by using organometallic reagents and palladium catalysis. In 2007 I moved to the University of Warwick as a visiting researcher. After this experience in the UK, I moved back to Bari where I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. I carried off several projects focused on the elucidation of the structure of organometallic intermediates and the molecular dynamics of small molecules by NMR and FT-IR. In 2013 I joined the Ley's group at the University of Cambridge (UK) as a research associate working on novel chemical methods in continuous processes. Several research projects have been carried off in collaboration with international partners, both from academia and from the industry. In 2015 I joined the group of Prof Martina Pohl at the Forschungszentrum Jülich Institute to train in the field of biocatalysis and biotechnology. After this experience I moved back to Cambridge applying the acquired knowledge to the concept of Biocatalysis in Flow. I was engaged in process intensification, including the development of efficient multi-step cascade processes controlled by in-line analytic techniques. In 2018, I joined the Dept of Chemical Engineer at the Polytechnic of Bari (Italy) as a senior researcher. I was involved in a project oriented to the application of spectroscopic methods for food fraud control and traceability. I performed data analysis applying the univariate and the multivariate statistical data elaborations. Currently, I am involved in a project co-funded by Istituto Poligrafico Zecca dello Stato focused on the study of new materials for the development of innovative holographic bases, able to guarantee long-time stability and security against counterfeits.
